Entrepreneurs Across Borders Board Meeting in NYC: Powering Up Caribbean Entrepreneurship
Andrea Babinec
Our October 24 Board meeting in New York City represented a powerful convergence of visionary leaders committed to propelling Caribbean entrepreneurs toward growth and prosperity. The meeting’s in-person attendees included our advisor Nasir Ali, co-founder of Upstate Venture Connect and UpVentures Holdings, as well as Board members Chris Cochran, EAB Executive Director, Martin Babinec, EAB’s founder; Melissa Pegus, Managing Director of TechStars Atlanta and New Orleans; and Jim Kenefick, Managing Partner of Azafran Capital Partners. We were joined remotely by Board member Chad Thevenot, Senior Vice President for Advancement and Communications at the University of Austin (UATX).
The fact that most of our Board members took the time to travel to our meeting underscores their commitment to and passion for EAB’s mission. While not everyone involved with EAB will be able to attend all of our meetings in person, it was clear that each Board member was doing what they could to actively contribute to our shared goal: reshape the economic landscape for emerging entrepreneurs in the Caribbean.
EAB Delivers Results, Not Just Promises
EAB approaches Board meetings in a way that is atypical for nonprofits. According to our Executive Director, Chris Cochran, our meetings are comparable to startup strategy sessions in that we embrace bold, fast-paced innovation over relying on a long-term "plan and hope" model. In other words, instead of thinking 25 years into the future, we strategize about how we can make the biggest possible impact in the shortest amount of time. Through our leverage of cutting-edge technology and powerful network of partnerships, we are laying the groundwork for rapid and sustainable growth.
A Community-Driven Catalyst for Change
When you think of EAB, think of catalysts, community, entrepreneurship, technology, and partnerships. EAB is where visionary leaders join forces to create tangible impact across borders, sparking economic transformation in the Caribbean as we empower local entrepreneurs with the resources, connections, and know-how they need to take their businesses to the next level.
