EAB Holds First Board Meeting at Our Headquarters
Andrea Babinec
At Entrepreneurs Across Borders, we are proud to have a team of world-class advisors, each of whom brings years of expertise in areas including entrepreneurship, startup investing, nonprofit fundraising, and workforce development. Our advisors are deeply committed and passionate about using entrepreneurship to help make an impact on developing nations. For them, joining EAB isn't about adding another item to their LinkedIn profile—it's about driving meaningful change.
We got to see our advisors in action recently during our first Board meeting held at our headquarters in Little Falls, New York. Convening the meeting in Little Falls was especially meaningful to us as not only is it our founder’s hometown, it’s the home base of the other nonprofits who fall under the UpVentures Holdings umbrella, including UpMobility Foundation and Unite New York. We were truly honored to welcome our accomplished advisors, who traveled to Upstate New York from all over the country to discuss the long-term viability plan for EAB, among other topics.
Karl Cote, our new CFO at Entrepreneurs Across Borders, remarked at the meeting about how rare it is to see Board members so deeply engaged and personally invested in an organization’s success. And what an exceptional group of attendees we had! In-person attendees included Board members Jim Kenefick, two-time nominee for Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year award and tech investor, and Melissa Pegus, Managing Director of Techstars Atlanta and New Orleans. Also present were Nedra Daugherty, workforce development expert and our EABConnect Project Manager, who flew in from Las Vegas; and Susan James-Casserly, Project Manager and longtime supporter from our partner organization Food For the Poor, who came to us from Florida. Remote attendees to the meeting included our new Board member, Chad Thevenot, Senior Vice President for Advancement and Communications at the University of Austin, and Nasir Ali, co-founder of UpVentures Holdings and past CEO of Upstate Venture Connect.
Unlike many nonprofits, Entrepreneurs Across Borders is dedicated to ensuring the sustainability of our organization with the same intensity we bring to our mission. We're strategically building EAB for lasting impact, now and for the future.
